Dear friend of Family Promise,

Last month, we shared how each family we serve, as they achieve their goal of sustainable housing, chooses a keychain with an inspirational message to take with them.

Each keychain is a reminder that they are not alone and that a community is behind them. Thank YOU for being a part of that community! You can read that story here: Ms. Rebecca’s Community.

Priscilla’s Story

Priscilla’s world shifted the day she faced eviction. As a single mother of two, losing her job meant losing stability. But instead of giving up, she stepped into our program with one goal: rebuild. Within 10 days, she found work. Hope returned—until it didn’t. During training, she learned her equipment didn’t meet the job’s requirements, and the opportunity slipped away.

Still, Priscilla refused to stop. Within 30 days, she secured a part-time job—then kept going until she landed full-time employment, building real stability for her family. With steady income, she began her housing search. With guidance from her family advocate, she was approved—and Family Promise helped with move-in costs.

Before leaving, Priscilla chose a keychain from our home—one that simply said, “Home.”

For her and her children, that word means more than ever.

Jessica’s Story

Jessica chose a keychain that reads: “Your struggle doesn’t define your future.”

Not long ago, Jessica and her children were living in their car after a painful breakup. She came to Las Vegas seeking a fresh start—but found herself caring for four children including a newborn and staying at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

At her lowest moment, she searched “shelter” online—and found Family Promise. Her baby was just 17 days old when we called her back.

At the Family Navigation Center, things began to look up.

Through our Workforce Pathways program, Jessica received hands-on coaching, interview preparation, and support with clothing, transportation, and job readiness. A mock interview helped her identify her strengths, refine her message, and walk into opportunities with confidence.

She attended a job fair and connected with a recruiter from Caesars Palace. That led to a temporary role at the World Series of Poker—and soon after, a corporate position. With access to technology at the Navigation Center, she was even able to work from home while caring for her newborn.

Today, Jessica has stable income, reliable transportation, and a place to call home. On March 12, she moved into her apartment with her four children.

And now, the message she chose to carry with her says it all—her struggle did not define her future.
