Today on Giving Tuesday, we invite you to celebrate resilience, hope, and the transformative power of community. Every day, families across Las Vegas face the frightening reality of housing insecurity — but with support, their stories don’t end in crisis. They continue with courage. They continue with progress. They continue with a new beginning.

At Family Promise of Las Vegas, we walk alongside parents who are working tirelessly to create stability for their children. Because of generous friends like you, families like Paula’s and Maria’s are not facing hardship alone — they are rising above it. Their stories remind us that even in the toughest moments, a safe place to land and someone who believes in you can change everything.

Paula’s Story

Paula is a devoted mother of three who entered the Family Promise Motel Shelter Program after losing her home due to health challenges and unemployment. Even in the midst of uncertainty, she remained focused on her children’s well-being and took intentional steps toward rebuilding stability. While in our program, Paula secured employment, completed her Health and Life Insurance recertification, and passed her state exam. Within just 30 days, she found and was approved for her own apartment, and Family Promise of Las Vegas assisted with her first month’s rent so she and her children could move forward with confidence. Today, Paula is grateful for the support and resources provided during such a critical time — and her determination continues to pave the way toward a brighter future for her family.

Maria’s Story

A single mother of four energetic children, she suddenly found herself at risk of losing her job when delays in her childcare assistance application left her without a safe place for her kids to go. The fear of missing work—and losing the income her family depended on—felt overwhelming. When things seemed uncertain, Family Promise of Las Vegas stepped in, providing childcare for her children so she could continue working without fear. This support allowed her to maintain her employment as well as their housing situation. FPLV provided some other supports while a long term childcare option could be secured. Today, she and her family are thriving—her children are safe and she continues building a brighter future. Her journey reflects the resilience of a mother determined to overcome every obstacle, and the power of community support to keep a family in crises moving forward.
