These children in the pictures above are from families that we have served. The two children on the top are two of the first children served by Family Promise of Las Vegas in 1996. On the bottom are children that from families that were served more recently. Over the last 29 years Family Promise of Las Vegas has transitioned thousands of families with children from homelessness to safe and dignified housing though motel-shelter, transitional housing, and homeless prevention programs by working with various apartment complexes, landlords, motels, and hundreds of service providers and stakeholders. One recent mom that was served is Tina:

Tina’s Story

When Tina, a single mother of three children (ages 13, 9, and 3), entered Family Promise of Las Vegas’s Motel Shelter Program, she already had a part-time job and childcare in place—but major barriers stood in her way. Despite her determination, she struggled to find full-time employment and was repeatedly denied housing because of a past eviction on her record.

Each week, Tina shared her challenges during follow-ups with our case management team. She remained hopeful and motivated—not just for herself, but for her children. Around the 60-day mark, her hard work paid off: Tina secured a full-time job while continuing her part-time position, doubling her efforts to provide stability for her family.

Through our partnership with Advanced Management Group, Tina was connected with a second-chance landlord who believed in her potential. Despite her eviction history, they welcomed her into a safe, permanent home. Tina exited the program and moved into her new apartment with her three children. Family Promise assisted with her security deposit and first month’s rent, making her transition as smooth as possible.

Today, Tina and her children are thriving in their new home. She shared, “I can’t thank Family Promise enough and all those who made what I thought was impossible… possible.”
