Dear friend of Family Promise,
Thank you for supporting Family Promise of Las Vegas and for being part of a community that shows up for families during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives. Last month, we shared Beauty in the Struggle, Elena’s story, which you can check out below. This month, we are sharing Violet’s story of overcoming adversity.
Beauty in the Struggle
When Violet lost her job in early 2025, finding another full-time position in her small rural Nevada community proved extremely difficult. As her savings disappeared and her family circumstances changed, Violet and her daughter eventually lost their housing and spent approximately five months living in their car.
Determined to create a better future for her daughter, Violet came to Las Vegas in search of employment and support. After staying at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, she connected with Family Promise of Las Vegas. Through resume assistance, mock interviews, workforce coaching, and continued encouragement, Violet secured a full-time position with benefits at MountainView Hospital.
Today, she is working toward a simple but meaningful dream: a two-bedroom home where she and her daughter can feel safe, stable, and secure. In the video below, Violet shares how she overcame adversity to move closer to the future she has been working so hard to build.

Award-Winning—Again: The Credit One Bank Family Navigation Center, operated by Family Promise of Las Vegas, has received the 2026 NAIOP Southern Nevada Merit Award in the Special Use category. Bright Horizons Bright Space Ribbon Cutting: Join us on Thursday, August 20, as Family Promise of Las Vegas and Bright Horizons celebrate the opening of a new Bright Space for children at our award-winning Family Navigation Center. The ribbon cutting will include brief remarks, photos, light refreshments, and an opportunity to see the new space designed to give children a safe, welcoming place to play, learn, and simply be children. |

Help Family Promise Earn the Vote: Family Promise of Las Vegas has been selected as one of only three nonprofits presenting at the 100 Women Who Care Southern Nevada Giving Gathering on Tuesday, August 11. Marisa and Martin will have five minutes to share our mission before members vote to determine which organization receives the collective donation. United Way Community Impact Grant: Family Promise of Las Vegas is honored to be one of 16 nonprofit organizations selected to receive a 2026–2027 Community Impact Grant from United Way of Southern Nevada. This support will help strengthen our workforce development efforts and connect families with employment resources and pathways toward financial and housing stability. Nevada State Bank Grant: We are grateful to Nevada State Bank for awarding Family Promise of Las Vegas a grant supporting our work with families experiencing homelessness and housing instability. This investment will help families access the practical services and individualized support needed to move toward long-term independence. September Job Fair Sponsored by Anthem: Our next Workforce Development Job Fair is coming in September, with Anthem serving as the official sponsor. Job seekers will be able to connect with employers, training opportunities, certifications, healthcare resources, and other services that help remove barriers to employment. Stay tuned for details! 30 Year Anniversary Family Fun Festival: Join us on Wednesday, September 30, for our free 30 Year Anniversary Family Fun Festival, presented by Eagle One Construction, LLC. Some organizations will have a gala or a black tie event for a 30 year celebration. We thought about that… but decided to have a giant family fun festival instead! This free community celebration on September 30 at Community Lutheran Church will bring together families, churches, volunteers, sponsors, local businesses, and community partners for an evening of carnival games, bounce houses, crafts, entertainment, music, community resources, and a family-friendly magic show. |
